Patient Records

Patient recordsWe need to be clear about what we can and cant do within the context of patient records. We can do almost any aspect of patient surveys, patient experience and patient feedback from the systems that we provide. This could be in the form of pre-operative care, consultancy, post-operative care or clinic visits. MurrayData have experience of desiging forms for departments within Primary Care Trusts (PCT's), e.g. Podiatry, or Acute Trusts, e.g. Orthopaedics, where feedback before and after day surgery was required for audit purposes. This can also be extended to allow data from care records to be gathered before being added to the master hospital database.

MurrayData can also capture data from other pre-designed forms, where marks, ticks, crosses, simple capitalised hand-written numbers or letters, barcodes and handwritten comments and signatures in the form of image clips are included. The data from these can be exported from the software and imported into your own database. This could cover notes and records from NHS doctors, consultants and nurses, where direct real time access into the electronic patient record system is not possible.

Naturally, there has to be a break even point in capturing data, where the number of responses and data gathered is cost justifiable. Small departments or clinics working in isolation, and processing a handful of forms per day may struggle to economically justify investment in a data capture system. However, larger departments, or a few clinics working with a shared data capture resource will quickly meet this break even point and see a return on the investment. As a rule of thumb, if a department needs to capture data from more than 10-12 patients per day, then it may well be worth investigating further.
