Student Revision
Although this section is called Student Revision, in a more general sense this could be Ongoing Learning Outcome Evaluation, but that seemed a bit too cumbersome a title for this page! In essence, we are talking about setting tests or assessments on a regular basis for students or learners as they progress through modules of a course, or sections in a syllabus. This gives confidence to the lecturer or teacher that learning outcomes are being met and that the students are understanding the information and material being given to them.
If the results of the regular tests show that the learning outcomes are not being met, then corrective action can be taken to go over the material again in a way which is more memorable to the learners and learnig outcomes can be re-tested.
In a very real sense, using the technology available today, instructors and course managers can get an up to the minute picture of how well each student or learner is progressing through the course and confidence that teaching is as effective as it should be. Again, corrective action can be taken in time by course managers if results fall below expectations. More and more schools, colleges and universities are implementing these systems, as waiting for the results of learnig outcomes unitl after the final exam is not always desireable. A phrase with 'stable door' and 'bolting' comes to mind!
